The Housing Specialist will; - Interview clients to assess their present housing needs and status and submits appropriate applications to community resources. - Conducts groups to discuss available housing options, how to secure an apartment and how to handle issues related to housing. - Accompanies residents to housing interviews, housing fairs, and to complete housing applications when necessary. - Provides housing resources (i.e. phone numbers to landlords, housing programs, etc) to clients and acts as a liaison between landlords and clients. - Refers residents to get PPD and physicals completed within two weeks of their entrance into the facility. - Obtains an accurate history of client’s housing situation to assess what services are needed. - Facilitates Tier II interviews and acts as a liaison between Tier II shelter and AEGIS clients. - Submits housing applications for all housing programs available (i.e. Section 8, and NYCHA). - Handles requests for extensions to be submitted to HRA - Refers residents to Public Assistance and monitor their compliance with HRA and the ADVENT program. - Negotiates, assesses and assists client needs with respect to benefits and follows the resident’s case from entry to discharge - Assists and escorts residents in going to HRA/social service agency appointments when necessary. - Participates and attends staff, service plan review and clinical team meetings. - Maintains and ensures completion of accurate records and progress notes in client chart. - Other duties as assigned.

SCOPE OF ROLE:            The Porter will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and minor repairs in a residential shelter.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: - Maintain cleanliness in assigned areas within the facility.  This includes but is not limited to; floor care (mopping, sweeping, buffing, waxing), cleaning cafeteria and kitchen areas, bathrooms, emptying trash, separating recyclables, emptying garbage, wiping windows and walls, and cleaning stairways and/or elevators. - Carry out minor repairs and building maintenance throughout assigned areas of the facility.  This includes but is not limited to; painting, plastering, repairing furniture, maintaining smoke detectors and fire extinguishers. - Responsible for exterior snow and ice removal as well as upkeep of the grounds.  This includes but is not limited to sidewalk maintenance, mowing grass, trimming shrubbery, maintaining landscaping, rodent removal, and all other aspects of the building exterior. - Conduct periodic building, dorm, and office inspections for dangerous and hazardous conditions, needed repairs, hygiene, and cleanliness. - Conduct periodic inspections of fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, and sprinkler system to ensure equipment is working properly and in compliance with regulations. - Maintain building maintenance tools and machinery to ensure that all items are in good working condition. - Responsible for laundering bed linens, bathroom towels, kitchens towels, and all other washable items used in the facility by consumers and staff. - Assist with periodic boiler and water heater inspections to ensure proper functioning at all times.  - Assist in moving and storing program supplies, office furniture, office equipment, dorm furniture, consumer belongings, and other items in and around the facility when and where appropriate. - Assist in interior decorating and refurbishing of assigned areas of the facility. - Responsible for insect and bug extermination and rodent removal.  - Drive agency vehicles. - Must wear SUS maintenance uniform and must maintain uniform so that it is clean and presentable at the start of each shift. - Maintain CPR/ First Aid Certification. - Complete other tasks as deemed necessary by the House Manager, Program Director and/or Assistant Director of Facilities. - Attend staff meetings, case conferences, group supervision, and trainings as needed. - A work schedule that includes some weekend and evening hours will be required. - Other duties as assigned

The Maintenance Worker union will;   - Provide minor Maintenance Duties for 220+ Scatter Site Apartments in the Bronx, Manhattan and Brooklyn Rockaway Scatter Site and Broadway Scatter Site Housing Program - Collect and dispose of garbage from all offices and common areas on a daily basis (in the location where Scatter Site Team is located) - Submit requisitions for necessary maintenance/repair supplies to the AA on a weekly basis and control the inventory of supplies - Complete the monthly physical plant and fire safety audit of the facility (as needed) - Establish and execute a formalized preventative maintenance schedule for Scatter Site Units, i.e. minor painting, plastering, changing locks, changing lighting fixtures, light bulbs, stripping and waxing floors, installing shades, etc. - Install Smoke / Carbon Monoxide Detectors and Fire Extinguishers; Install AC’s when needed - Winterize some apartment windows when needed - Ensure the overall cleanliness of the Storage Room for Scatter Site Supplies and Materials - Installation of Scatter Site Apartment Program furniture and appliances - Participate in moving clients in and out of the apartments - Turnover apartment once tenant moves and prepare for new move in - Maintain vehicle maintenance/mileage record prior to and upon returning from trips - Regular attendance in staff meetings and trainings - Participate in Adult Daily Living Skills training (ADL) as, needed or in a group setting with Wellness Coach - Participate in meetings as assigned including supervisory and service planning meetings - Adhere diligently to all life-safety policies and procedures - Any other duties as assigned by the Program Director or designees - Adhere to on call cell phone system to facilitate crisis intervention, emergencies and other situations that require immediate action

The Peer Specialist will perform the following duties;   - Outreach/Engagement/Bridge Building: Helping to facilitate engagement with teams by forging strong connections with participants and families, undertaking outreach activities designed to promote community awareness of S:US services, encouraging help-seeking, and at times serving as a bridge between team members and participants when they experience ambivalence about treatment. - Relationship Building: Developing authentic, meaningful relationships with individuals and families through empathy, sharing experiences, listening and collaborating with genuine curiosity and interest. - Embracing Creative Narratives: Peer Specialists need to be able to understand, share and discuss multiple frameworks for understanding life experiences such as psychosis with participants and the rest of the S:US team. Peer Specialists intentionally use language in the service of listening to understand and making space for complex personal stories of recovery and resilience. - Advocacy: Peer Specialists advocate with and for program participants both in the larger community and on the team. - Co-Creating Support and Wellness Tools: Collaborate with participants to clarify their personal visions and develop their wellness toolkit. Along with other team members, Peer Specialists support participants in strengthening their self-awareness, building life skills, and connecting to resources and community outside of the S:US team. - Influencing Team Culture: Whenever possible, positively influencing the team culture by advocating for clients, promoting a youth friendly approach and encouraging the use of recovery oriented language. S:US Peer Specialists also work actively within the team itself to help build an environment that operates from a belief in the human potential to grow and an understanding of human diversity. - Team Communication: Peer Specialists maintain open and frequent communication with the team. This includes reporting safety and other concerns to the team. Peer Specialists will also keep notes on visits with program participants as required by the provider agency. In the spirit of peer support, co-collaborating on reporting with the program participant is encouraged.
