 The Shift Supervisor provides supervision and training to residential aides and community coordinators.   - ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: - Supervision includes, but is not limited to, ongoing individual supervisory meetings; building inspections, ongoing feedback regarding job performance; coordinating work schedules, timesheets and requests for time off; coordinating work assignments; evaluating paperwork and documentation including the Security Log and Maintenance Work Order Log books; coordinating security and maintenance staff training, development and evaluation. The Housing Specialist will; - Interview clients to assess their present housing needs and status and submits appropriate applications to community resources. - Conducts groups to discuss available housing options, how to secure an apartment and how to handle issues related to housing. - Accompanies residents to housing interviews, housing fairs, and to complete housing applications when necessary. - Provides housing resources (i.e. phone numbers to landlords, housing programs, etc) to clients and acts as a liaison between landlords and clients. - Refers residents to get PPD and physicals completed within two weeks of their entrance into the facility. - Obtains an accurate history of client’s housing situation to assess what services are needed. - Facilitates Tier II interviews and acts as a liaison between Tier II shelter and AEGIS clients. - Submits housing applications for all housing programs available (i.e. Section 8, and NYCHA). - Handles requests for extensions to be submitted to HRA - Refers residents to Public Assistance and monitor their compliance with HRA and the ADVENT program. - Negotiates, assesses and assists client needs with respect to benefits and follows the resident’s case from entry to discharge - Assists and escorts residents in going to HRA/social service agency appointments when necessary. - Participates and attends staff, service plan review and clinical team meetings. - Maintains and ensures completion of accurate records and progress notes in client chart. - Other duties as assigned.

SCOPE OF ROLE:            The Porter will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and minor repairs in a residential shelter.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: - Maintain cleanliness in assigned areas within the facility.  This includes but is not limited to; floor care (mopping, sweeping, buffing, waxing), cleaning cafeteria and kitchen areas, bathrooms, emptying trash, separating recyclables, emptying garbage, wiping windows and walls, and cleaning stairways and/or elevators. - Carry out minor repairs and building maintenance throughout assigned areas of the facility.  This includes but is not limited to; painting, plastering, repairing furniture, maintaining smoke detectors and fire extinguishers. - Responsible for exterior snow and ice removal as well as upkeep of the grounds.  This includes but is not limited to sidewalk maintenance, mowing grass, trimming shrubbery, maintaining landscaping, rodent removal, and all other aspects of the building exterior. - Conduct periodic building, dorm, and office inspections for dangerous and hazardous conditions, needed repairs, hygiene, and cleanliness. - Conduct periodic inspections of fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, and sprinkler system to ensure equipment is working properly and in compliance with regulations. - Maintain building maintenance tools and machinery to ensure that all items are in good working condition. - Responsible for laundering bed linens, bathroom towels, kitchens towels, and all other washable items used in the facility by consumers and staff. - Assist with periodic boiler and water heater inspections to ensure proper functioning at all times.  - Assist in moving and storing program supplies, office furniture, office equipment, dorm furniture, consumer belongings, and other items in and around the facility when and where appropriate. - Assist in interior decorating and refurbishing of assigned areas of the facility. - Responsible for insect and bug extermination and rodent removal.  - Drive agency vehicles. - Must wear SUS maintenance uniform and must maintain uniform so that it is clean and presentable at the start of each shift. - Maintain CPR/ First Aid Certification. - Complete other tasks as deemed necessary by the House Manager, Program Director and/or Assistant Director of Facilities. - Attend staff meetings, case conferences, group supervision, and trainings as needed. - A work schedule that includes some weekend and evening hours will be required. - Other duties as assigned

This shelter provides housing and services to families who have survived Domestic Violence using a trauma-informed approach.
