The Porter will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and minor repairs in a residential shelter.   Responsibilities: - Maintain cleanliness in assigned areas within the facility.  This includes but is not limited to; floor care (mopping, sweeping, buffing, waxing), cleaning cafeteria and kitchen areas, bathrooms, emptying trash, separating recyleables, emptying garbage, wiping windows and walls, and cleaning stairways and/or elevators. - Carry out minor repairs and building maintenance throughout assigned areas of the facility.  This includes but is not limited to; painting, plastering, repairing furniture, maintaining smoke detectors and fire extinguishers. - Responsible for exterior snow and ice removal as well as upkeep of the grounds.  This includes but is not limited to sidewalk maintenance, mowing grass, trimming shrubbery, maintaining landscaping, rodent removal, and all other aspects of the building exterior. - Conduct periodic building, dorm, and office inspections for dangerous and hazardous conditions, needed repairs, hygiene, and cleanliness. - Conduct periodic inspections of fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, and sprinkler system to ensure equipment is working properly and in compliance with regulations. - Maintain building maintenance tools and machinery to ensure that all items are in good working condition. - Responsible for laundering bed linens, bathroom towels, kitchens towels, and all other washable items used in the facility by consumers and staff. - Assist with periodic boiler and water heater inspections to ensure proper functioning at all times.  - Assist in moving and storing program supplies, office furniture, office equipment, dorm furniture, consumer belongings, and other items in and around the facility when and where appropriate. - Assist in interior decorating and refurbishing of assigned areas of the facility. - Responsible for insect and bug extermination and rodent removal.  - Drive agency vehicles. - Must wear SUS maintenance uniform and must maintain uniform so that it is clean and presentable at the start of each shift. - Maintain CPR/ First Aid Certification. - Complete other tasks as deemed necessary by the House Manager, Program Director and/or Assistant Director of Facilities. - Attend staff meetings, case conferences, group supervision, and trainings as needed. - A work schedule that includes some weekend and evening hours will be required.

We are currently seeking LPN's   The LPN meets with the Program Director, Director of Social Services, Registered Nurse, and Social Service staff to coordinate shelter residents to receive ongoing treatment in the community.    The LPN will; - Take vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature and weight - Assist with diabetes medication and treatment  - Take medical histories and enter information in computer systems  - Coordinate with Case Managers, Senior Case Managers and Director of Social Services to ensure proper care, nutrition and treatment plans are followed  - Follow up with community health care providers to ensure medical treatment plans are documented, monitored and followed Have flexibility to work a schedule that includes evenings and weekends

The Housing Specialist for the shelter Establish linkages and maintain solid working relationships with supportive housing providers, real estate brokers, managing agents, and landlords as a resource for consumers. Provide supportive social services including individual and group counseling, workshops, education, referrals, and escorting in an effort to prepare consumers for successfully securing and maintaining permanent housing. Prepare and assist consumers with the housing application/interview process. SCOPE OF ROLE: The Cook will assist in the management and monitoring of all aspects of the development of a nutritious daily menu and meal preparation for homeless individuals including those with special diets. We are currently seeking a Shift Supervisor for our Men’s Shelter located in Brooklyn The Shift Supervisor provides supervision and training to residential aides and community coordinators.      ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: - Supervision includes, but is not limited to, ongoing individual supervisory meetings; building inspections, ongoing feedback regarding job performance; coordinating work schedules, timesheets and requests for time off; coordinating work assignments; evaluating paperwork and documentation including the Security Log and Maintenance Work Order Log books; coordinating security and maintenance staff training, development and evaluation. - May be required to fulfill duties of residential aides and/or custodial personnel in their absence. - Establish and maintain appropriate staff/client boundaries and direct clients to the appropriate staff or department in order to address their needs. - Communicate regarding incidents and client observations and interactions with Facility Manager, Case Managers, Senior Case Managers, Director of Social Services and Program Director as needed. - Assist with new family arrivals, apartment turnovers and complete intakes and program orientation. - Assist with move outs, curfew violators and new residents. SCOPE OF ROLE: The Health Navigator will work as part of a mobile, multi-disciplinary team providing support to three general population shelters in Upper Manhattan and the Bronx. Other team members include the Social Worker (Team Leader), a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, CASAC, Health Navigators and Employment Specialists. The mobile team augments and supports the on-site shelter case management staff.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: - Work with Shelter staff to identify unmet needs among shelter residents. Develop outreach plans to engage identified shelter residents. - Engage shelter residents in supplementary services. - Develop and facilitate schedule of health and wellness focused “drop in” groups for each shelter site. - Accompany shelter clients to medical appointments. Accompany clients to lab work and other medical tests. Coordinate care with all medical providers. Assist in having prescriptions filled. - Provide treatment adherence counseling. Identify risk reduction and health education material which is culturally relevant and sensitive to the needs of the program participants. - Advocate on behalf of consumer regarding medical treatment as needed. - Provide crisis intervention services and if necessary. - Maintain updated information about primary care, specialty care, mental health, substance abuse treatment and other social services in the community. He /she will Design and facilitate vocational/employment group and maintain an active employment vocational/educational data bank and serve as Program Representative at Workforce and Employment Initiatives and Meetings.  The specialist will identify barriers to employment e.g.-ESL, Substance Abuse , Mental Health and in collaboration with Case Manager make appropriate referrals.
