The Residential Aide will be responsible for providing a variety of support services in a residential shelter setting to assist with the supervision and safety of individuals through a recovery rehabilitative focus of care.     Responsibilities: - Maintain daily census and become familiar with consumer population. - Establish and maintain appropriate staff/consumer boundaries and direct consumers to the appropriate staff or department in order to address their needs. - Provide guidance and information to consumers around the daily activity schedule, House Rules, Program Policies and Procedures, Grievance Procedures, and Client Rights.  - Monitor consumer behavior to ensure compliance with House Rules, Program Policies, and Procedures. - Monitor facility exterior and interior to ensure consumer safety, prevent damage and/or theft of agency property, and to prevent fire or other emergency/crisis situations. - Responsible for laundering bed linens, bathroom towels, kitchens towels, and all other washable items used in the facility by consumers and staff. - Assist consumers in the laundering of their personal clothes and items during assigned laundry times. - Assist in meal service. Monitor consumers during mealtimes and all other activities taking place within the facility. - May be responsible for cleaning program areas after or before usage. - Provide guidance to consumers in proper upkeep of living quarters, personal hygiene and grooming, appropriate attire, attendance at meals, in-house vocational training, and participation in other support service activities. - Prepare and distribute hygiene supplies and other living supplies to consumers. - Manage clothing donations/clothing closet. - Drive program vehicle to drop off/pick up shelter residents at appointments, housing interviews, job interviews, training sites, partnering organizations, etc. as assigned. - Accompany shelter residents to appointments as assigned. - Conduct periodic building and grounds inspections and make shift supervisor aware of findings. - Respond to crisis and emergency situations and contact the appropriate authorities as needed. - Assist House Managers with fire drills and building evacuations during emergencies and provide consumer with fire safety and prevention information as needed. - Participate in ongoing individual supervision, team meetings, case conferences, division meetings and trainings as appropriate. - Adhere to on call system to facilitate crisis intervention, emergencies, and other situations that require immediate action. - Maintain CPR/ First Aid Certification. - A work schedule that includes some weekend and evening hours will be required. - Perform other duties related to the program as delegated by the House Managers and/or Assistant Director, Facility Operations.

S:US is currently seeking a Food Handler for our Family Shelters.   The Food Handler assists in the management and monitoring of all aspects of the development of a nutritious daily menu and meal preparation for homeless individuals including those with special diets.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: - Prepare low-fat, low-sodium, vegetarian and soft meal options to meet special dietary and medically prescribed needs of residents. - Assist in managing and performing food and equipment ordering and inventory. - Safe and sanitary handling and storage of all food items in accordance with New York State and New York City Department of Health regulations. - Responsible for the general supervision of kitchen area, including overall cleanliness, maintenance of equipment, utensils, and supplies, and the ability to provide instruction to inexperienced trainees. - Assist in the implementation of a Daily Cooking and & Nutrition (Daily Living Skills) training curriculum for Shelter Residents to prepare them for independent living. - Attend staff meetings, case conferences, group supervision, and trainings as needed. - Supervise, instruct, and train residents in basic nutrition, preparation of meals, basic food handling and storage, kitchen cleanliness, and equipment maintenance according to NYC and NYS - DOH guidelines and program requirements. - Comply with and enforce all SUS Corporate Compliance and Employee Policies, Procedures, and Protocols. - Comply with, enforce, and carry out all SUS Incident Management Policies, Procedures, and Protocols as appropriate. - Any other duties as assigned by the Food Service Director and/or Program Director. - A work schedule that includes some weekend and evening hours will be required. - Other duties as assigned

We are currently seeking Case Managers interested in working in our Mahattan shelter.   The Case Manager will provide comprehensive case management services to an assigned caseload of 15-18 clients. Conduct intake process within 24 hours of admission. Provide accurate, complete, and timely documentation of the provision of supportive social services and client progression/regression toward the goals of securing permanent affordable housing. Facilitate group and individual counseling, workshops, psych education, and recreational activities. Conduct room inspections to assess client overall ADL skills. Conduct service planning, provide referrals to in-house and community-based medical, mental health, and supportive social services to assigned caseload as appropriate. Provide crisis intervention and assist in building evacuation during fire drills. Monitor client medication compliance and escort clients on housing interviews as needed. A work schedule that includes some weekend and evening hours is required.

S:US is currently seeking a Housing Specialist for their family shelter in Brooklyn.   The Housing Specialist will: - Interview clients to assess their present housing needs and status and submits appropriate applications to community resources. - Conducts groups to discuss available housing options, how to secure an apartment and how to handle issues related to housing. - Accompanies residents to housing interviews, housing fairs, and to complete housing applications when necessary. - Provides housing resources (i.e. phone numbers to landlords, housing programs, etc) to clients and acts as a liaison between landlords and clients. - Refers residents to get PPD and physicals completed within two weeks of their entrance into the facility. - Obtains an accurate history of client’s housing situation to assess what services are needed. - Facilitates Tier II interviews and acts as a liaison between Tier II shelter and AEGIS clients. - Submits housing applications for all housing programs available (i.e. Section 8, and NYCHA). - Handles requests for extensions to be submitted to HRA - Refers residents to Public Assistance and monitor their compliance with HRA and the ADVENT program. - Negotiates, assesses and assists client needs with respect to benefits and follows the resident’s case from entry to discharge - Assists and escorts residents in going to HRA/social service agency appointments when necessary. - Participates and attends staff, service plan review and clinical team meetings. - Maintains and ensures completion of accurate records and progress notes in client chart. - Other duties as assigned.
