Position Overview

The ideal candidate will;

 

Possess comprehensive knowledge of the Domestic Violence Movement, Trauma Informed Care and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder theory, group and individual therapy, residential program management and child development and human services network.

 

Represent SUS in the domestic violence community, participate on various committees, Mayor’s Office to Combat Domestic Violence, Domestic Violence Coalition and NYSCODV.

 

Under the supervision of Regional Director, the Aegis Program Director is responsible for the day to day management of the Aegis shelter. This shelter provides housing and services to families who have survived Domestic Violence using a trauma-informed approach. The ideal candidate will be well versed in trauma informed care from both educational and professional applications.

 

In this position you will;

  • Supervise the management team consisting of clinical supervisor, trauma informed care supervisor, facility manager and shift supervisor.      
  • Assesses program operations, identifies problems, establishes priorities, and develops timetables and strategies for their resolution.
  • Establishes clinical, administrative and operational policies and procedures and monitors their implementation.
  • Insures compliance with contractual and licensing requirements and agency policies maintains required records, prepares required reports.
  • Conduct chart audits to insure compliance with HRA, OTDA and OCFS regulations.
  • Reviews literature and development in the domestic violence movement.
  • Provides staff training directly and through use of consultants, seminars and agency training unit. Develop program initiatives informed by trauma informed care and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder theory.
  • Conducts staff and management team meetings and establish case conference agendas.
  • Intervenes in unusual clinical situations and instructs staff how to proceed.
  • Participates in establishing and maintaining positive relations and linkages with service providers, governmental agencies, civic organizations and community groups or leaders.
  • Represents SUS and participate in domestic violence community task force, Mayor’s Office to Combat Domestic Violence, Coalition for Domestic Violence, NYSCODV
  • Provide analysis and direct the development of the program budget for review with the Executive Management. Administer and monitor program budget and recommend budget modifications to Executive Management.
  • Attends all scheduled meetings and training sessions.
  • Performs all other duties as directed by immediate supervisor.

Qualifications

  • A Masters Degree from an accredited institution with a major in social service or related field and two and one half years of experience in the administration or social service program.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Domestic Violence Movement, Trauma Informed Care and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder theory, group and individual therapy, residential program management and child development and human services network.
  • Bi-lingual English and Spanish speaking preferred.
  • Basic Computer Skills.
