  • Position Overview


    The Maintenance Mechanic Worker ensures the proper maintenance and upkeep of the facility. Assists in developing consumer’s ability to maintain individual residents on basic cleaning and safety.



    • Establish and execute a formalized preventative maintenance schedule for the facility, i.e. painting, plastering, plumbing, windows, electerical work, changing locks, masonary, changing lighting fixtures, roofing, stripping and waxing floors, installing shades, etc.
    • Submit requisitions for necessary maintenance/repair supplies to the Program Director on a weekly basis and control the inventory of supplies
    • Complete the monthly physical plant and fire safety audit of the facility.
    • Participate in moving clients in and out of the facility.
    • Maintain vehicle maintenance/mileage record prior to and upon returning from trips.
    • Facility Maintenance is responsible for the installation of a Maintenance Start-up Kit for newly acquired apartments. This includes:  smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector, window fire gate, curtain rods, window shades, second deadbolt lock, and fire extinguisher.



      • HS Diploma or GED preferred.
      • Minimum one year experience as a repair-person.
      • Valid NY State Driver’s License.
      • Minimum one year experience working with mentally ill individuals within a residential or scatter-site program.
