  • Position Overview

    Working collaboratively with internal and external resources, the Director, Communications & Marketing will lead the development and implementation of Services for the UnderServed’s marketing and communications efforts, aligning all communications and marketing strategies with the overall goal of unifying and strengthening messaging, growing the agency’s visibility, and supporting the agency’s fundraising efforts.

     

    Supporting a strong partnership between a visionary CEO and an action-driven Chief of Staff, the Director of Communications & Marketing will generate and drive the message to the public that S:US is a community of opportunity for people whose lives have been challenged by poverty, mental illness, trauma and/or developmental disability. Internally, the Director of Communications & Marketing plays the role of lead communicator and communications point-of-contact for a staff of over 2,400 committed individuals in over 100 locations.

     

    The incumbent must be a self-starter, creative, skillful in social media, have good people and public relations skills, and be an active listener able to take direction and multi-task. H/she will have planning and oversight for content creation across traditional and digital platforms, lead public relations/media enagement, and internal communications.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree required
    • Minimum 3 years professional experience
    • Prior media relations, public relations, or communications experience required
    • Proficiency with major social media platforms (such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, and other evolving platforms)
    • Experience with Wordpress a plus
    • Strong design skills with proficiency with Adobe InDesign software
    • Excellent interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to interact professionally with diverse staff, service participants, and other stakeholders
    • Ability to research and appreciate the unique service areas in which S:US operates
