  • Position Overview

    Position Overview: The Receptionist will work in one of our shelters, assisting the Program Director with purchasing, inventory control, mails, faxes, deliveries, service calls, drills, tracking and filling all vendors list, inspection checklists and work orders. The Receptionist will also answer phones, direct calls as appropriate, receive and distributes mail, faxes, and deliveries.


    Job Functions:
    • Monitor front area, answer incoming calls, determine purpose and forward calls to appropriate personnel or department.
    • Welcome and announce visitors, provide specific information and/or referral information.
    • Maintain resident, visitor, staff, delivery, and package search logs
    • Complete shift summaries via email correspondence
    • Make, maintain copies of general forms.
    • Attend and participate in regular staff training and scheduling meetings
    • Maintain confidentiality and privacy regarding all clients’ information
    • Provide crisis intervention and request emergency responders as applicable.
    • Generate weekly, monthly reports as directed by Supervisor.
    • Must remain on-duty until properly relieved.
    • Comply with all agency Employee Policies, Procedures, and Protocols, Corporate Compliance Policies, and NYS Dept. of Social Services Rules, Regulations, and Statutes.
    • Perform other related duties as directed by Supervisor.
    • Other duties as assigned.


    • High School Diploma                   
    • Customer Service
    • Basic computer knowledge  
    • Professional presentation   
    • Working knowledge of various computer programs including e-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPointand Windows Operating System    
    • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required
