  • Position Overview

    In this role the Clinical Director will provide oversight and consultation on positive behavior and interaction supports while participating in recurring team meetings as part of the NYSTART Brooklyn team. The ideal candidate will develop positive behavior support and interaction plans as necessary for guests at the resource center who require more extensive safety measures. The Clinical Director will participate in discussions regarding resource center admissions and provide on-site consultation as needed for guests receiving center-based and/or mobile supports.

     

    Job Functions:

    • Provide oversight and consultation on positive behavioral supports and other written documents
    • Review all START related documentation and provide input 
    • Provide training and consultation to staff, families and providers including ongoing organization and conducting of CETs
    • Assist START coordinators with preparation for START coordination certification
    • Participate in recurring team meetings as necessary
    • Develop behavior support plans as necessary for guests at the resource center who require more extensive safety measures
    • Participate in discussion regarding resource center admissions
    • Provide oversight of therapeutic groups/activities and onsite consultation as needed for guests receiving center based and/or mobile supports

     

    Qualifications

    • Ph.D. in psychology and licensed by the state’s/province’s Psychology Board
    • OR Master’s degree in Mental Health or Social Work and licensed by NYS (LMHC or LCSW) with a minimum of 7 years clinical experience working with the IDD/MI population
    • Extensive experience in intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), specifically with people who have IDD and mental health and/or challenging behavior needs
    • Experience developing and implementing positive behavior support plans preferred
    • Must be a certified START coordinator or have the ability to complete the START coordination certification process within 6-12 months of hire
