Position Overview

Services for the UnderServed (SUS) is a New York-based nonprofit organization that provides housing and support services to 25,000 individuals and their families living in New York City and Long Island.  SUS believes every New Yorker has the right to lead a life of purpose.

Position Summary:

As part of our growing Talent Acquisition team, the Recruiting Coordinator will create a memorable experience and have a lasting impact on SUS’ Agency Brand and the people interested in joining our growing team.  As an ambassador, you will partner with recruiters and hiring managers through the recruitment life-cycle from pre-planning to kick-off through closure in support of a world class Talent Acquisition experience.


  • Create and complete all required new hire paperwork and processes ensuring all legal requirements are met
  • Remain in constant contact with candidates to ensure a smooth onboarding process
  • Coordinate new hire orientation
  • Open and close requisitions in Applicant Tracking Systems
  • Collaborate with recruiters on executing recruiting strategies
  • Research, coordinate and attend job fairs
  • Foster a network of recruitment relationships including schools, non-profit and community organizations
  • Schedule phone and in-person interviews for Recruiters
  • Source and evaluate candidates using databases and social media
  • Maintain the integrity of the background check process to ensure internal and external compliance
  • Coordinate the internship program to ensure compliance
  • Assist with HR/recruiting projects as needed




  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Organizational Psychology or relevant field preferred
  • At least two years experience as an HR Assistant or related function in a fast paced high volume environment
  • Understanding of HR policies and best practices
  • Familiarity with HR databases, applicant tracking systems such as iCIMS and candidate management systems
  • Ability to assess priorities and manage a variety of activities in a time-sensitive environment, meeting deadlines with a commitment to excellence
  • Ability to work as an effective, agile team member in a complex environment with shifting priorities
  • Familiarity with social media, especially LinkedIn
