Position Overview

Services for the UnderServed (SUS) is a New York-based nonprofit organization that provides housing and support services to 25,000 individuals and their families living in New York City and Long Island.  SUS believes every New Yorker has the right to lead a life of purpose.

Position Summary: The Day Habilitation Director oversees the  Day Habilitation program personnel and assists in the effort of promoting Day Habilitation Participants Valued  Outcomes as identified in their Individualized Service Plan.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures the implementation of SUS policies and procedures, and regulatory requirements as set forth by OMRDD
  • Directly supervises the Habilitation Specialist to ensure fulfillment of responsibilities in accordance with the agency’s mission and core values
  • Formulates Day Habilitation plans and ensures implementation by Day Habilitation Specialists
  • Reviews Participant clinical charts and outcome books to ensure adequate documentation and data are present and current
  • Oversees daily petty cash spending and ensures material needs of Day Habilitation program are provided
  • Provides Medicaid Service Coordinators with assistance in ensuring consumer needs are met
  • Attends all staff meetings and program surveys
  • Prepares monthly volunteer and recreation schedule
  • Ensures volunteer and recreation schedule are followed and activities are completed
  • Ensure all services meet the physical, social and developmental needs of all participants, including safety protection of the participants

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in Human Services or related field required, Bachelor's degree  preferred.
  • One year in MRDD setting or related field and one year supervisory experience, or minimum three years in MRDD field.
  • Good communication and writing skills. 
  • CPR/First Aid certified, AMAP certified SCIP-R training.
  • Valid NYS driver’s license.
  • Bilingual Required.  Spanish
