The Wellness Works CCBHC Psychiatrist will provide psychiatric and administrative services (approximately 25% of time to be spent on administrative/leadership responsibilities), within a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC), a new federally piloted holistic behavioral health care clinic modeled after Federally Qualified Health Centers.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Oversee all aspects of the CCBHC’s psychiatric care including evaluation, medication, crisis, etc.
  • Liaise with on-site primary care organization: develop protocols, provide consultation and facilitate integrated relationship
  • Lead quality improvement projects and facilitate implementation of systemic change
  • Identify and help to implement innovative clinic practices
  • Create implement, and assess treatment processes and procedures e.g., those based on diagnosis, individual needs and level of care
  • Provide medication management, including medication assisted treatment, and psychotherapy directly and in consultation with CCBHC and primary care staff: prescribe, educate, adjust, and partner in full consumer engagement efforts regarding strategies, outcomes and consequences
  • Collaborate and consult with all staff, and sign off on treatment plans and care delivery of care, particularly for complex cases
  • With other CCBHC leadership, assess, plan and implement staff development opportunities
  • Develop community and referral partnerships and academic affiliations, including offering CCBHC as an elective for residents; promote the CCBHC’s services; participate in external workgroups and engage the public regarding both the clinic and the organization.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned




  • Must be licensed as a physician by the New York State education department
  • Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Addiction and/or Child/Adolescent Psychiatry
  • Experience with underserved individuals and direct service to people living with serious mental illness and/or substance use disorders
  • 3-5 years of experience in an administrative and/or supervisory role; preference given for experience working with both children and adults; experience with people with co-occurring disorders highly desirable.
  • Must have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Word/Excel. Ability to research material via the internet.
  • Bilingual in any language a plus although not required.
