Position Overview

S:US is seeking a Violation Coordinator to support their Real Estate & Development team. 

 

 

SCOPE OF THE ROLE:

 

The Violation Coordinator supports S:US’s Real Estate and Development team by overseeing and coordinating compliance with New York City housing and building regulations across a diverse property portfolio. Reporting to the Director of Real Estate: Leasing and Violations, this role is responsible for tracking, documenting, and resolving property violations, coordinating inspections and repairs, managing vendor compliance, and representing S:US in hearings as needed. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail‑oriented, and committed to ensuring safe, compliant housing environments that support S:US’s mission to serve vulnerable New Yorkers.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reports to the Director of Real Estate and Deputy Director of Property Management in the Director’s absence.
  • Responsible for all documentation in reference to (S:US) Services for the UnderServed violations –inspections as necessary – understands regulations and rules as implemented by the City and State of New York.
  • Implements preventative maintenance in collaboration with the facilities department and coordinates to make sure inspections are conducted regularly. Violation coordinator ensures record-keeping, so compliance of the properties is up to date.
  • Track all property-based violations for completion and documents compliance on a shared drive. Provides receipts of completion to S:US programs and Real Estate Development Update hearing/ dates in the calendar for department to view.
  • Repeat HQS inspections as necessary within time frame determined for violations removal
  • Communicate and manage the approved S:US vendors to provide adequate documentation in a designated timeframe remediating violations at designated properties.
  • Primary contact for all compliance letters, hearings, and corrective action forms pertaining to S:US managed and owned properties.
  • Submit Invoices to fines and civil penalties for approval. Follow up with accounts payable and city systems e.g. DOBNow to ensure the fine was paid and removed.
  • Provide Jack Jaffa and Bcompliant (Violation Management Vendors) with all documentation requesting compliance and resolutions - For hearings where the coordinator cannot attend, they will attend in their place.
  • Update any S:US systems with violations documentation as directed by Director of Real Estate
  • This position interacts as well and attends the Violation Control Committee Meetings monthly. Meeting to be conducted by Director of Leasing and Violations and Facilities designated staff.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior experience in a related position or other code enforcement division.
  • Previous experience with computers and software used in an office environment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to understand and explain corrective actions measures and process for all city agencies and their regulations HPD, HQS, DOB, FDNY and DSNY.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Preferred Education and Experience; an associate’s degree or at least two-five experience in a related code enforcement position.
  • Certified Property Management (CPM) certification
  • REAC/ NSPIRE training and proof of required hours from certification
