Position Overview

  1. SCOPE OF ROLE:

The Vocational Counselor provides vocational services and consultation as a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team. 

 

  1. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Familiar with Federal, State and Local laws and regulations as they apply to the community residence program and agency policies
  • Provides vocational services and consultation as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. visits clients in their home and other settings required.
  • Familiar with OMH regulations
  • Responsible for integrating vocational goals and services
  • Provides aid and assistance through all phases of the vocational service provision
  • Performing routine clinical services as a member of the Team 
  • Responsible for charting client services
  • Responsible Vocational portion or all creating the service plan
  • Responsible for integrating vocational goals and services with the tasks of all the team members
  • Responsible for ensuring revisions to the plan as the participants’ needs change
  • Advocating on the rights and preferences of the participant whenever possible
  • Responsible for creating a monthly spreadsheet with names of tenants and their employment status
  • Follow-up quarterly with all employed tenants
  • Assist with making monthly contact with tenants as needed
  • Participate in bi-weekly monthly meeting
  • Participate in monthly supervision to address any work-related tasks or concerns
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • HS diploma or GED required
  • Three years’ experience with homeless population
  • Ability to work with a culturally diverse population

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s Degree is Human Services field preferred,
  • Familiarity of NYC public school system preferred
  • Experience in residential setting, group work, tenant organization, case management, referral,
  • and/or community outreach strongly preferred
