Position Overview

S:US is seeking a Driver for their singles women shelter.

 

This position is located at West 126 Street New York, NY 10027.

 

SCOPE OF ROLE:

The Driver will be responsible for transporting clients, staff and items throughout the 5 boroughs, New Jersey and other areas where housing may be acquired.  You will be required to operate between 4 sites in Harlem and the Bronx. You will be called upon to engage and assist with program participants/individuals we serve. As a member of S:US you are committed to acting with integrity, as demonstrated by treating people consistently, honestly and fairly to help them achieve their own goals and the goals of the agency.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate agency vehicle as assigned, transport residents, supplies, food, items and etc., to and from sites
  • Ensuring that the vehicle is kept in proper working order
  • Reporting any issue immediately to the Director for Vehicle and Agency Mechanic if problems do exist, in order to coordinate timely repair
  • Keep compliance with all vehicle and traffic laws as they pertain to safety, speed limits, passenger safety, etc.
  • Maintain accurate trip logs which will include destination, mileage before and after, departure and arrival times and purpose of trip to be submitted daily to vehicle operation
  • Maintain cleanliness of the interior and exterior of the vehicle
  • Report concerns to supervisor to be addressed by management
  • Exercise discretion in handling sensitive information as required by HIPPA and Agency guidelines.
  • Report, document and submit incidents timely to DHS and S:US as required
  • Handle internal and external communications from residents, vendors and patrons 
  • Respond to consumer needs promptly, accurately and with courtesy and respect.
  • Represents the organization in a positive and appropriate manner to outside resources.
  •  Supports the mission and values of SUS and draw attention to behavior that undermines group effectiveness or is inconsistent with core values.
  •  Additional duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

EQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must possess NYS Driver’s License
  • At least 1 year experience in driving for a company
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Basic computer skills (e.g. MS Office suite and Windows)
