Position Overview

S:US is seeking a part-time Nutritionist for our adult familiies' shelter in Manhattan

 

This position is located at 12 E. 31st Street New York, NY 10016  

 

 

Provides nutritional consultation to the food service manager in order to assure shelter menu’s meet the Department of Health food standards and are appropriate for residents with various dietary restrictions.  

  • Manages ongoing nutrition services that meet the needs of the client population by valuating client nutritional needs at the facility.
  • Actively participates in the interdisciplinary patient care process providing recommendations and education based on nutrition expertise.
  • Researching the effects of nutrition on health and fitness
  • Remains abreast of current research in areas of expertise through networking and continuing education activities.
  • Collaborate with the Food Service Manager on nutritional management for clients.
  • Assists on menu preparation.
  • Reviews menus to assure they are in alignment with the NYC DOH food standards.
  • Assures nutritional guidelines are met for all clients with special food needs.

 

Hours: This is a consulting position which requires approximately 5-8 hours per week. 

 

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

  • Baccalaureate degree in Nutrition or related field from an accredited college. Master’s degree
  • Active Registered Dietitian (R.D.) with the American Dietetic Association.
  • Minimum of two years of experience.
  • This position requires in depth clinical nutrition knowledge and the ability to work independently and effectively within the care environment.
