SCOPE OF ROLE:
Services for the UnderServed (S:US) has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Learning & Development who will oversee and elevate the organization’s training and development programs to support the growth needs of the organization as well as our employees. The Director of Learning & Development is a strategic and hands-on role responsible for creating and implementing innovative L&D approaches to support S:US business strategy. This critical member of the Human Resources Team will report to the Chief of Human Resources and People Officer and will lead a small team. As the Director of Learning & Development, you will take the lead on creating, implementing, and continuously improving Learning & Development programs to bring growth throughout the full employee life cycle. You will work on building a Training Institute for S:US. Through your work, you will have a significant impact on the organization and our culture.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Planning
Create the Learning & Development strategy that will enable S:US to meet its organizational objectives.
Develop and grow an S:US Training Institute and ensure high quality, evidence-based trainings for S:US staff across all divisions/departments.
Develop, implement and continuously improve Learning and Development programs.
Plan, design, and implement high quality, evidence-based trainings for staff, whether from internal/inhouse content experts or external resources.
Monitor, evaluate and summarize the effectiveness and value (ROI) of Learning and Development programs and processes.
Create custom training programs designed to meet the organization’s development needs.
Develop strategies to engage employees in a hybrid learning environment.
Provide off-the-shelf solutions that engage our employees.
Use an innovative mindset to leverage technology and process improvements to simplify the L&D function.
Implement ongoing learning needs analysis to identify skill gaps and development opportunities to support organizational growth and strategy.
Partner with Program Leaders to ensure that L&D activities are enabling overall business priorities.
Hire and oversee subject matter experts to provide trainings to S:US workforce as needed
Design all marketing and promotional materials for the Training Institute, including monthly training calendar
Represent and promote S:US at city, state, and national forums
Contribute to the field through publications, presentations, and collaborations with service providers, researchers, and others

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Master’s Degree in behavioral health or related field, or Bachelor’s degree with significant relevant experience
Extensive knowledge of psychiatric rehabilitation model, recovery-oriented care, adult learning theory and practice, with a strong social-justice focus
Minimum of 5 years of training experience
PREFERRED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
A creative mind with an ability to think outside-the-box
Strong knowledge of clinical topics such as motivational interviewing, CBT, trauma-informed care, and Mental Health First Aid
Knowledge about cultural humility, with a social-justice lens
Expertise in psychiatric/ psychosocial rehabilitation and recovery-oriented practice
Strong knowledge of NY State behavioral health landscape of services and entitlement services for people with psychiatric disabilities
