Position Overview

SCOPE OF ROLE:

The Generalist will provide quality support services, ensuring that members receive the necessary degree of support to facilitate reaching their indicated goals.         

 

The Clubhouse has six units: Administrative, Culinary, Employment, Education, Maintenance and Media & Communications.  The Generalists are direct service staff that have to manage a caseload, but should (also) have interest/skills in these areas as they will be building programming around it.  For example, a Generalist in Media & Communications should have skills/interest in creating newsletters, videos, video editing, photography, use equipment, social media, etc. because they will be working with members (clients) to learn these skills and support our marketing efforts.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engage clubhouse members in the culinary, maintenance, education/employment, media, and clerical units, including working alongside members to execute tasks.
  • Staff is assigned to one Clubhouse unit (i.e. culinary, clerical), but may rotate or work in other units as well.
  • Be able to cook, complete job development and teach computer skills
  • Facilitate and participate in the day- to- day activities of an assigned unit on a rotating basis, with the emphasis on promoting consumer empowerment
  • Provide assistance, training, monitoring, and direction of members’ chosen unit activities, and other program related activities.
  • Make programming available in such a manner as to model mainstream community e.g. Celebrate holidays on the actual holiday.  Provide recreation and leisure, etc.
  • Accompany members on various group outings and social events.
  • Ensure that the assigned unit logbook is current and contains group notes, attendance sheets and monthly unit schedules.
  • Assist in facilitating groups as needed in the program on a day-to-day basis.
  • Assist members in developing an individualized plan that reflects the members’ expressed personal goals as they relate to the Clubhouse and their general goals.
  • Ensure that the members receive the necessary degree of support to facilitate reaching their indicated goals.
  • Community outreach and provide members with transitional employment support.
  • Coordinate, supervise and maintain member case records. Encourage and inspire members to work or attend school/training
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma/equivalency required. Associate or bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred. 
  • Minimum of one-year experience in Clubhouse, Case Management or similar role.
  • Ability to maintain positive enthusiasm towards job accountabilities and objectives
  • Basic computer skills required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Ability to utilize various computer programs, specifically Microsoft Word and Excel preferred
  • A respect for, and high level of comfort around people experiencing psychiatric crisis preferred
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills including empathic listening, responding preferred
  • Experience co-facilitating groups
  • Knowledge of ICCD standards, motivational interviewing and stages of change preferred
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
