Position Overview

  1. SCOPE OF ROLE:            

The Family Vocational Specialist provides vocational services and consultation as a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team.  

 

  1. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conducts initial vocational and educational assessment for all clients within specified time frame to determine job readiness 
  • Prepares and conducts scheduled educational groups with clients to promote daily living and interpersonal skill development, as well as, preparing for interviews and conducting mock interviews  
  • Responsible to assist individuals challenged by mental illness and/or substance use histories learn job skills in preparation to enter into the competitive employment arena
  • Coordinate community referrals 
  • Follow up on the initial assessment and continue to encourage past and create new recommendations to promote job readiness 
  • Network with business in the community to assist in developing and maintaining relationships to promote job development and place for individuals
  • Establish a consistent pattern of contacts with individuals to ensure vocational and educational goals receive continued support  
  • Maintain all appropriate documentation including case notes, assessments and reports in a timely manner
  • Participate in staff meetings and case conferences 
  • Attend training and seminars in and outside of the agency to build upon vocational training skill-sets
  • Responsible for integrating vocational goals and services with the tasks of all the team members
  • Responsible for ensuring revisions to the plan as the individual’s needs change
  • Advocating for the rights and preferences of the individual whenever possible
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelors’ degree in human services, business, psychology, social work, or related field preferred. 
  • Valid driver’s license is a plus, but not required.  
  • Experience working with different populations preferred  
  • Knowledge of AWARDS preferred 
  • Bilingual English/Spanish speaking preferred
