Position Overview

The Human Resources Business Partner position is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business units. The HRBP serves as a consultant to management on human resources-related issues and act as an employee champion and change agent. The HRBP will also assess and anticipate HR-related needs. Communicating needs proactively with our HR department and business management, the HRBP Specialist seeks to develop integrated solutions.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Liaises with all HR cohorts and key stakeholders to create and implement initiatives related to organizational planning, performance management, goal setting, promotion process, and compensation process
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (job coaching, counseling, career development, progressive discipline, etc.). Facilitates meetings between managers and employees when relationship issues require a mediator. Responds to multiple employee queries on benefits, pay issues, etc.
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues
  • Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required
  • Partners with the Recruitment Manager for the business unit and ensures that quality and timeliness of candidate recruitment occurs
  • Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning
  • Where applicable, acts as an interface with the union representative for the business unit. Participates in union negotiations and ensures adherence to contract guidelines
  • Responds to the business unit’s training needs by contributing to the HR Department’s training activities through recommendations, development and implementation of formal or informal training curriculum. Follows up to ensure training objectives are met. Participates in evaluation and monitoring of success of training programs
  • Provides analytical support in the collection, layout and presentation of HR metrics and participate in the creation of effective communication strategy and action plan to respond to the feedback
  • Monitors all activity related to your assigned business unit in the HRIS and audits for accuracy

Job Requirements

PREFERRED:  

  • SPHR, PHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP Certification
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity and performance management

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3-5 Years of Employee Relations, Labor Relations or Generalist experience, preferably in a unionized-not-for profit organization
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Management or related field
  • Knowledge of State and Federal Employment Laws
  • Knowledge of MS Office
  • Good organization skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills
