Position Overview

Provides vocational services and consultation as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. Conducts career development workshops and provides vocational training workshops and will be responsible for linking tenants with appropriate specialized educational and training programs and vocational services to enhance employability.  Develops a resource bank appropriate to the needs and skills of the tenants.  Conducts group and individual vocational counseling sessions.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Familiar with Federal, State and Local laws and regulations as they apply to the community residence program and agency policies
  • Provides vocational services and consultation as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Responsible for integrating vocational goals and services
  • Provides aid and assistance through all phases of the vocational service provision
  • Performing routine clinical services as a member of the team 
  • Responsible for charting client services
  • Responsible for integrating vocational goals and services with the tasks of all the team members
  • Responsible for ensuring revisions to the plan as the participant’s needs change
  • Advocating for the rights and preferences of the participant whenever possible
  • Responsible for creating a monthly spreadsheet with names of tenants and their employment status
  • Follow-up quarterly with all employed tenants
  • Assist with making monthly contact with tenant as needed
  • Participate in staff, clinical meetings
  • Ability to research material via the internet
  • Participate in monthly supervision to address any work-related tasks or concerns
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • BA degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field required
  • Basic knowledge of human services
  • Must have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Word/Excel
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness
  • Have an understanding, appreciation, and commitment to the philosophy and mission of Services for the UnderServed (S:US)
  • Experience in vocational education / employment setting preferred
  • Experience working with diverse populations preferred

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license is a plus, but not required.
