Position Overview

S:US is seeking a Porter for their mens's shelter in Brooklyn. 

 

This position is located at 599 Ralph Avenue Brooklyn NY 11233

 

The Porter will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness ande minor repairs in a residential shelter.

  • Maintain cleanliness of facility and facility perimeter. This includes but it not limited to, kitchen, offices, bathrooms, dorms, medical department and common areas.
  • Accept deliveries and stock items as instructed
  • Removal of trash, snow and other debris
  • Assist in moving and storing program supplies, office furniture, office equipment, dorm furniture, consumer belongings, and other items in and around the facility when and where appropriate.
  • Must wear SUS maintenance uniform and must maintain uniform so that it is clean and presentable at the start of each shift.
  • Attend staff meetings, group supervision, and trainings as needed.
  • A work schedule that includes some weekend and evening hours will be required.
  • Assist with apartment turn over following move outs to prepare apartments for new families (where applicable).
  • Conduct minor facility repairs
  • Assist Maintenance staff with special projects
  • Ensure compliance with all OSHA and FDNY regulations
  • Comply with all SUS Employee Policies, Procedures, and Protocols, SUS Corporate Compliance Policies.
  • A work schedule that includes weekend and evening hours will be required
  • Ability to be available in emergency situations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • At least two years of building maintenance experience in a large residential/institutional setting working with special needs population required.
  • Must possess good interpersonal skills.
  • NYS Driver’s License Preferred.
