Position Overview

  1. SCOPE OF ROLE:

The Shift Supervisor provides supervision and training to residential aides and community coordinators.

 

  1. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supervision includes, but is not limited to, ongoing individual supervisory meetings; building inspections, ongoing feedback regarding job performance; coordinating work schedules, timesheets and requests for time off; coordinating work assignments; evaluating paperwork and documentation including the Security Log and Maintenance Work Order Log books; coordinating security and maintenance staff training, development and evaluation. May be required to fulfill duties of residential aides and/or custodial personnel in their absence.
  • Responsible for maintaining fire safety which includes:
    • Coordinate Fire Safety plan and training all staff on Fire Safety Procedures and Building Evacuation.
    • Coordinate monthly fire drills and maintaining fire drill logs.
    • Periodic building inspections checking for any fire safety hazards or violations and all systems related to fire prevention (centralized fire alarm panel, sprinkler system, smoke detectors and fire extinguishers).
    • Coordinate servicing and documenting service/inspections of all fire safety equipment.
    • Provide all new program clients with written fire safety and prevention information.
  • Perform administrative duties as requested, including but not limited to:
    • Complete transfer paperwork
    • Complete intakes with new clients
    • Compete Incident Reports
    • Maintain visitor log books
    • Maintain vehicle sign outs sheets
    • Maintain roster in CARES and accurately record bedding
    • Maintain mail logs
    • Correspond via email
  • Establish and maintain appropriate staff/client boundaries and direct clients to the appropriate staff or department in order to address their needs.
  • Communicate regarding incidents and client observations and interactions with Facility Manager, Case Managers, Senior Case Managers, Director of Social Services and Program Director as needed.
  • Assist with new family arrivals, apartment turnovers and complete intakes and program orientation.
    • Monitor client behavior to ensure compliance with House Rules, Program Policies, and Procedures.
    • Monitor facility exterior and interior to ensure client safety, prevent damage and/or theft of agency property, and to prevent fire or other emergency/crisis situations.
    • May be responsible for cleaning program areas after or before usage.
    • Assist with move outs, curfew violators and new residents. Complete intakes with new residents.
    • Provide guidance to clients in proper upkeep of living quarters, personal hygiene and grooming, appropriate attire, attendance at meals, in-house workshops, and participation in other support service activities.
    • Maintain, prepare and distribute hygiene supplies, donations and living supplies to clients.
    • Drive program vehicle to drop off/pick up shelter residents at appointments, housing interviews, job interviews, training sites, partnering organizations, etc. as assigned.
    • Conduct periodic building and grounds inspections and make facility manager aware of findings.
    • Respond to crisis and emergency situations and contact the appropriate authorities as needed.
    • Participate in ongoing individual supervision, team meetings, and trainings as appropriate.
    • Adhere to on call system to facilitate crisis intervention, emergencies, and other situations that require immediate action.
    • Maintain CPR/ First Aid Certification
    • A work schedule that includes weekend and evening hours will be required. Additional shifts required as needed
    • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

     

    1. REQUIREMENTS

    REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • High School Diploma or GED required
    • 2+ years of experience in Security or Building Maintenance is required.
    • Ability to provide crisis intervention utilizing good interpersonal skills with a high level of maturity and responsibility
    • Experience in office management and/or staff supervision is required.
    • Experience working in a large residential/institutional setting with a special need’s population is required.
    • Strong writing, interpersonal, and organizational skills required.
    • F-80 is required.
    • Security license is mandatory but may be obtained within 6 months if hired.

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

    • NYS Driver’s License preferred
    • Bilingual English/Spanish speaking preferred
