Position Overview

S:US is seeking a Food Handler for their adullt single women's shelter in Manhattan.

 

This position is located at 205 West 135th Street New York, NY 10030

 

SCOPE OF ROLE:

 

The Food Handler will assist in the management and monitoring of all aspects of the development of a nutritious daily menu and meal preparation.  He/she will prepare low-fat, salt-free, vegetarian and soft meal options to meet special dietary and medically prescribed needs of residents. The Cook will assist in managing and performing food and equipment ordering and inventory. The ideal candidate should have experience in the safe and sanitary handling and storage of all food items in accordance with New York State and New York City Department of Health regulations. He/she will be responsible for the general supervision of kitchen area, including overall cleanliness, maintenance of equipment, utensils, and supplies, and the ability to provide instruction to inexperienced trainees. Evening and Weekend Hours may be required.

 

 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Training in food skills and at least two (2) years’ experience in food service for an institution (e.g., hospital, hotel, etc.)
