Position Overview

S:US Is seeking a Shift Supervisor for our Women's shelter in Manhattan. 

 

This position is located at 205 W. 135 Street New York, NY 10030

 

 

SCOPE OF ROLE:
The Shift Supervisor provides supervision and training to residential aides and community coordinators.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervision includes, but is not limited to, ongoing individual supervisory meetings; building inspections, ongoing feedback regarding job performance; coordinating work schedules, timesheets and requests for time off; coordinating work assignments; evaluating paperwork and documentation including the Security Log and Maintenance Work Order Log books; coordinating security and maintenance staff training, development and evaluation. May be required to fulfill duties of residential aides and/or custodial personnel in their absence.
• Responsible for maintaining fire safety which includes:
o Coordinate Fire Safety plan and training all staff on Fire Safety Procedures and Building Evacuation.
o Coordinate monthly fire drills and maintaining fire drill logs.
o Periodic building inspections checking for any fire safety hazards or violations and all systems related to fire prevention (centralized fire alarm panel, sprinkler system, smoke detectors and fire extinguishers).
o Coordinate servicing and documenting service/inspections of all fire safety equipment.
o Provide all new program clients with written fire safety and prevention information.
• Perform administrative duties as requested, including but not limited to:
o Complete transfer paperwork
o Complete intakes with new clients
o Compete Incident Reports
o Maintain visitor log books
o Maintain vehicle sign outs sheets
o Maintain roster in CARES and accurately record bedding
o Maintain mail logs
o Correspond via email
• Establish and maintain appropriate staff/client boundaries and direct clients to the appropriate staff or department in order to address their needs.
• Communicate regarding incidents and client observations and interactions with Facility Manager, Case Managers, Senior Case Managers, Director of Social Services and Program Director as needed.
• Assist with new family arrivals, apartment turnovers and complete intakes and program orientation.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s or Associates Degree preferred. 2 – 3 years of experience in Security or Building Maintenance is required
  • Experience in office management and/or staff supervision is required
  • Experience working in a large residential/institutional setting with a special needs population is required
  • Strong writing, interpersonal, and organizational skills required
  • F-80 is required within 6 months of employment
  • CPR certification required
  • NYS Driver’s License preferred; Bilingual preferred
