Position Overview

S:US Is seeking a Supervisor of Social Services for our domestic violence shelter in Manhattan.

 

Location: Confidential

 

Salary: $62,000.-67,000K/annual

 
Schedule: Monday-Friday 9a-5p, with flexibility and on-call.

Scope of role:

Under the supervision of the Program Director, the supervisor is responsible for the overall management and supervision of the clinical unit, which includes case managers, vocational case manager and housing specialist. The supervisor is responsible for the coordination of client services, developing and implementing policies and procedures, establishing goals and objectives and working closely with Program Director in planning, implementing and monitoring HRA and other funding/licensing agency services. The supervisor of social services actively promotes staff development and team building.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


• Interviews residents to determine suitability for residential services and to assess their level of psychological       functioning; makes admissions decisions
• Conducts all initial assessments and assigns residents to a case manager
• Makes counseling related referrals and serves as liaison to mental health agencies as needed
• Develops and maintains linkages with service providers
• Represents program at community task force and conference meetings
• Prepares client referral reports to supportive service providers and monitors and evaluates client progress records
• Develops, maintains and revises policies and procedures and insures that staff is knowledgeable about adhering to the Aegis/SUS policies and procedures
• Provides clinical supervision and audits charts to ensure that notes are completed in a timely fashion by clinical staff
• Supervise program in Director’s absence
• Attends all scheduled meetings and training sessions
• Ensures staff are compliant with mandates and meeting with residents
• Provides a minimum of documented weekly individual supervision to all subordinates
• Assess staff training and development needs, assist in designing training protocols, coordinate and/or provide training
• In conjunction with the treatment staff, develop, review, revise, and implement client curriculum and group schedule
• Review all OCFS and HRA chart audits, develop plans to rectify deficiencies and insure that written responses are completed in a timely manner, participate in utilization review, insure that staff complete chart audit mandates
• Represents program at public and professional events/meetings when requested by Supervisor
• Maintains all statistical data required for outside finding and/or regulatory agencies (HRA, OCFS
• The candidate should be able to read documents for analytical purposes
• Working knowledge of AWARDS, CARES, SORTS systems
• Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


• A Master’s Degree from an accredited institution with a major in social work or related field
• A minimum of three years supervisory/managerial experience
• Work experience in the fields of mental health, child welfare, child development, or other related fields.
• Strong working knowledge of psychodynamics, group work, case work, health systems and human and child development.
• Experience working with trauma and have an understanding of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder as well as trauma informed care
• Must have ability to supervise staff and promote team building; good problem-solving skills, good written and oral communication skills
• Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS


• LMSW or LMHC preferred
• English/Spanish speaking preferred
