Position Overview

  1. SCOPE OF ROLE:

The Cook union is responsible for preparing nutritional meals in an establishment that serves food while maintaining a clean workspace throughout the day to follow health and safety guidelines.

 

  1. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Prepares food items by cutting, chopping, mixing, and preparing sauces.
  • Prepare low-fat, salt-free, vegetarian and soft meal options to meet special dietary and medically prescribed needs of residents.
  • Cooks food items by grilling, frying, sautéing, and other cooking methods to specified recipes and standards.
  • Manage and monitor all aspects of the development of a nutritious daily menu and meal preparation for person-served including those with special diets.
  • Responsible for general supervision of kitchen area, including overall cleanliness, maintenance of equipment, utensils, and supplies
  • Maintain cleanliness and complies with food sanitation requirements by properly handling food and ensuring correct storage.
  • Cleans and sanitizes cooking surfaces at the end of the shift.
  • Performs inventory checks and completes food storage logs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

The Salary for this positon : The Mininmum is $15.76/HR and the Maximum is $17:10/HR

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Food Handler Certification
  • One to two years of experience as a line cook, or prep cook
  • Certificate in Culinary Arts

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • High school diploma or GED - preferred
  • Experience with various cooking methods and procedures
  • Familiar with industry best practices
  • Sets up and stocks food items and other necessary supplies.
  • Self-motivated
  • High energy Level
  • Multi-tasking
