Position Overview

The Support Services functions at S:US are carried out by a team of professionals with diverse backgrounds who share deeply in the S:US mission. The purpose of the Finance Department at S:US is to fulfill the organization’s mission in the most effective and efficient manner and to remain accountable to stakeholders, including clients, partners, funders, employees, and the community. In order to accomplish this, the Finance Department commits to providing accurate and complete payroll data for internal and external use by the Executive Team and the Board of Directors.

 

Junior Accountant will conduct routine and specialized accounting functions while preparing routine accounting reports, and assist with month-end close process.

Qualifications

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare monthly cash rent receipts schedules, including a percentage analysis
  • Prepare monthly financial schedules and financial statements
  • Analyze Balance Sheet and Income Statement Accounts on a monthly/quarterly basis, and provide related monthly financial reports
  • Play a role in monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings
  • Assist with year-end audits
  • Liaise with banks, prepare Bank Reconciliation, custody of all bank information, prepare wires, stop payments, ACH reports, return items, including overseeing NSF checks, and stolen checks, and make related Journal Entries.
  • Liaise with lenders, reconcile, pay loans, and prepare compliance loan covenant reports for lenders, borrowing base certificates, interest accruals, and other related journals.
  • Assist with the preparation of the budget
  • Maintain tight control of accounting records, including bank statements, AP invoices, AR invoices, vendor contracts, revenue statements, security vouchers, loan documents, and tax statements.
  • Responsible for monthly General Ledger clean up
  • Monitor monthly vacancy loss for projects
  • Provide monthly forecasting reports
  • Compiling cash receipts schedules from rent assistance programs
  • Ability to review and understand real estate closing documents for projects

  • Problem-solving skills – Ability to be creative and analytical. Examine issues and data and search for inconsistencies, reconcile inconsistencies and recommend then implement solutions.
  • Math skills – Ability to use math to calculate data and ensure that information is correct. Ability to work with numbers and make calculations with minimal errors.
  • Communication skills – Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal Skills – Ability to remain calm in stressful situations. Treat colleagues with respect and find the best way to help answer their questions so that they can be successful in their job duties.
