Position Overview

SCOPE OF ROLE:

The Associate Medical Director will provide psychiatric and administrative services (approximately 10% of time to be spent on administrative/leadership responsibilities), within Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHC)

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support Clinic Director in all aspects of the CCBHC’s psychiatric care including evaluation and treatment for children, adolescents and adults, medication, medication assisted treatment, crisis, etc.
  • Provide health assessments, psychiatric evaluations and medication management services for children, adolescents and adults, including medication assisted treatment, i.e., suboxone and vivitrol, and psychotherapy directly and in consultation with CCBHC and primary care staff: prescribe, educate, adjust, and partner in full consumer engagement efforts regarding strategies, outcomes and consequences for Brooklyn and Harlem
  • Provide consultation to psychiatric nurse practitioners and registered nurses at CCBHC clinics (Fulton and CTI)
  • Liaise with on-site pharmacy: develop protocols, provide consultation and facilitate integrated relationship
  • Assist Clinic Director in clinical quality improvement projects and assist in implementation of innovative clinic practices
  • Create, implement, and assess treatment processes and procedures e.g., those based on diagnosis, individual needs and level of care
  • Collaborate, consult with all staff, and sign off on treatment plans, particularly for complex cases with other CCBHC leadership, assess, plan and implement staff development opportunities
  • Develop community and referral partnerships and academic affiliations, including offering CCBHC as an elective for residents; promote the CCBHC’s services; participate in external workgroups and engage the public regarding both the clinic and the organization
  • Provide consultation in service provision for nurse practitioners and registered nurses at CCBHC clinics (Brooklyn and Harlem)
  • Participate in agency Incident Review Committee meetings
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • NY State Certified Nurse Practitioner
    • Board Certified Psychiatric - Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
    • New York State appropriate practitioner license and a DEA registration
    • Enrolled as a Medicaid Provider in NY State
    • National Provider ID Number (NPI Number)
    • Experience with underserved populations and direct service to children, adolescents and adults living with serious and persistent mental illness
    • Experience prescribing buprenorphine and naltrexone

 

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 1-2 years managerial experience in a behavioral treatment setting
