Position Overview

Newly licensed social workers and mental health counselors with intern and/or work experience in trauma informed care encouraged to apply.


The Trauma Informed Care Specialist position is a great opportunity for a Licensed Social Worker or Mental Health Professional (LMSW, LMHC) to join a Domestic Violence family shelter team that is leading trauma-informed care for those individuals in need of safety and security while in crisis.


The Licensed Professional will;


  • Assess residents for trauma within 1 week after entering the facility.
  • Identify stressful situations, thought patterns, and behaviors that would place/show that the resident in crisis mode
  • Provide biweekly individual trauma counseling
  • Provide weekly group counseling for trauma survivors
  • Refer severe trauma survivors (children, teenagers and adults) to outside mental health agencies
  • Provide family counseling when applicable
  • Provide weekly counseling to children/teenagers when necessary
  • Refer resident to appropriate staff members at Aegis for all concrete services not directly associated with their mental health.
  • Complete individual and group notes in a timely fashion
  • Accompany residents to psychiatric emergency ward or appointments when necessary
  •  Work with outside mental health agencies to monitor residents’ compliance with treatment and progress in treatment     
  • Participate in biweekly clinical meetings to collaborate with Clinical staff to ensure the resident is receiving the most effective services available


  • Master’s degree in Social Work or Psychology
  • Candidate must have LMSW, LMHC
  • A minimum of to years’ experience in client assessment, trauma informed care, experience identifying the following: PTSD, vicarious trauma, crisis counseling, case planning and coordination is desired. Solid knowledge of domestic violence issues.
